Yesterday, District 39 held its first Parent Education event of the year, titled “Navigating School Safety Scenarios: How Would You Respond?” A recording of that presentation is now available. PASS39 (Parent Association of Student Services) is partnering with the Wilmette Public Library for an event titled “Navigating 504 and IEP Plans.” This in-person event will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 14 from 6-7:30 pm at the Wilmette Public Library and aims to provide families with clarity and support as you explore educational options for your child(ren). Online registration opens next Tuesday, Sept. 23. 

D39 Parent Portal
District 39 utilizes the PowerSchool Parent Portal as an information hub for our families. We encourage all families to watch this short video that walks you through all of the available resources available on the Portal and familiarize yourself with everything that the Portal has to offer. Listed below are just some of the features inside the Portal:
• Attendance update for children
• Fee balance (view outstanding balances and submit payment online)
• Lunch accounts (monitor your child’s lunch account and view purchased items)
• PLS Vault (District 39’s secure home for assessment reports)
• Current grades (Highcrest and WJHS students only) 
• Report an absence
• View report cards and forms
• Setup your email notification preferences

Join Our District 39 Team!
District 39 is looking for caring and qualified individuals to join our D39 team! We are accepting applications for paraprofessionals (also known as teaching assistants) and substitute teachers. The hourly rate for paraprofessionals starts at $20.78 per hour with an approximate work day from 8 am-3:30 pm. Science Olympiad Coach Needed
Want to mentor some of D39’s bright, scientific minds? District 39 is looking for coaches for its varsity and junior varsity Science Olympiad teams for the 2025-26 season. Last year’s team posted a top-10 finish at the state meet and is looking for a mentor to help them build on that accomplishment. This position will receive a stipend of $3,213 for the year. Board of Education
The Board of Education gathered on Monday evening for its regular business meeting. In addition to committee reports, the Board approved our 2025-26 Strategic Plan Action Steps and heard a presentation on our 2025 Summer Enrichment Program. The Board also approved two at-large members to the Community Review Committee (CRC) and conducted a final reading of several Board policies. Agendas, materials and additional meeting details for all Board of Education meetings are posted online Friday afternoon prior to the meeting.
