Important Communication from D39 – Feb. 20, 2023
Posted on 02/20/2023

Dear District 39 Families and Staff,

This morning, we received notification from the Wilmette Police Department (WPD) regarding phoned-in threats made toward several north suburban schools, including Wilmette Junior High School, in what was an apparent “swatting” incident. The WPD responded immediately to investigate. Officers were onsite at WJHS to conduct a full and thorough sweep of the WJHS campus. Following a thorough investigation, the WPD found no evidence to corroborate this threat and has determined the threat to be not credible. The WPD will continue to investigate this false report.

The safety of all students and staff is our top priority. We value our close partnership with the Wilmette Police Department and appreciate all that they do to help keep our community safe. We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with the police department and their quick and thorough review of the threat.

Your partner in education,
Dr. Kari Cremascoli, Ph.D.
