Dear District 39 Parents and Families,

The D39 Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting last night. The agenda and materials are posted here and the full meeting recording here, and we are excited to share the following updates with you. During its meeting, the Board made several important decisions and approved:

  • The Merged A/B In-Person Learning Model for HMS and WJHS for 4th quarter beginning April 12;
  • Opportunities for Increased In-Person Options for those enrolled in the Enhanced Fully Remote Program beginning the second week of April;
  • A Non-Attendance Day for students on Monday, April 5 while teachers and staff participate in an ISBE Planning Day;
  • Extension of the SafeGuard Screening Program through the end of April,
  • The 2021-2022 School Calendar; and
  • Summer Construction at WJHS to install 2nd floor air conditioning and complete important electrical health/life safety work.

For additional information, please review the following.

  • 4th Quarter Planning: Last night’s Video Recording and Slide Presentation of 4th Quarter Planning, which summarizes plans for A/B Learning Pod Merger for HMS and WJHS as well as for opportunities for increased in-person options for those enrolled in the Enhanced Fully Remote Program.
  • 2021-2022 District 39 School Calendar: The 2021-2022 School Calendar is posted here.
  • SafeGuard Screening: Registration for the SafeGuard Screening Program is strongly encouraged for all in-person learners. The screening program has been extended through the end of April, and all in-person students are encouraged to participate in this additional layer of mitigation. Screening helps to identify and isolate Covid-19 cases, reduce the need for quarantines, further mitigate the risk of exposure, and maintain a healthy school environment for all.
  • PCR Testing: PCR Testing at the end of Spring Break is strongly encouraged for all in-person learners. Whether traveling or enjoying the local pleasures of a staycation over break, the FREE Township PCR Testing Clinic offers students and families free PCR testing at the end of spring break. Many appointments are still available for Friday April 2nd, Saturday April 3rd and Saturday, April 10. Information regarding other local testing sites is also available on our D39 COVID Testing webpage as well as on pages 18-21 of the D39 Family Response to Illness Booklet. We encourage families to consider registering for PCR testing at the end of Spring Break to help us in maintaining a healthy school environment for all.

Please look for additional information from your principal regarding 4th Quarter Planning at your school.

It is an exciting time to be part of Wilmette Public Schools District 39, and we appreciate your ongoing support of our programs!
