Dear D39 Families,

This is a reminder. Registration for COVID-19 PCR testing through Ambry is due by tomorrow at noon. Parents who would like their child to participate in the option COVID-19 PCR testing through Ambry that is being provided on December 3rd must register by noon on Wednesday, December 2nd and pick up a testing kit from their child’s home school by 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Below is information regarding this COVID testing option, eligibility, registration, test collection and results.

District 39 is excited to expand access to the Ambry PCR Testing for COVID-19 Program to its students enrolled in District 39. This testing program provides students with easy and convenient access to PCR testing for COVID-19. Testing will be available throughout the school year through each D39 school nurse office for students who are symptomatic or where there is a concern about possible exposure to COVID-19.

To launch the program this week, the district has partnered with Ambry to provide a convenient, single-day bulk testing event on Thursday, December 3rd to District 39 students and staff. Please read this information carefully and, if interested, complete registration for your student no later than noon on Wednesday, December 2nd.

General Information about COVID-19 testing through D39’s Ambry partnership:
Ambry PCR COVID-19 testing is provided as a convenience for students and families. Students are not required to use Ambry PCR COVID-19 testing. Ambry partners with Rapid Reliable Testing for physician review of test orders and results. Eligibility for COVID testing through D39’s Ambry partnership:

  • Available to all D39 students who register for the testing program online by noon on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020
  • COVID-19 Testing is available to D39 students for the following reasons for a fee of $20:
    1. There is a concern about a possible exposure to COVID-19, and/or
    2. The student has symptoms of COVID-19, such as cough, shortness of breath, fever, muscle pain or other symptoms associated with suspected COVID-19.
  • Covid-19 Testing is also available on the district bulk testing days to asymptomatic and non-exposed D39 students for a fee of $85. This testing is available to students who are asymptomatic and without concern of exposure, and the family’s health insurance will not be billed.

 

Test Participation Fees:
For students who access testing due to symptoms associated with COVID-19 or a concern about a possible exposure to COVID-19, a fee of $20 will be assessed to families by the district to cover district costs for testing/processing, and Ambry will bill the family’s health insurance company. On the district bulk testing day of December 3rd, students who are asymptomatic and without concern for exposure may also participate in testing, if they wish. The direct institutional billing fee of $85 will be assessed to these families through the district and insurance will not be billed. Fee waivers are available through the D39 Angel Fund for those who qualify with financial need.

Please note:

  • If known exposure or symptoms are suspected, the household should self-isolate pending test results.
  • A negative test result does NOT shorten a quarantine order due to travel or close contact with a known COVID-positive individual. If your child has traveled outside of the state or has been exposed to a known COVID-positive individual, your child must quarantine for the full 14 day quarantine period regardless of test results.

 

How to access Ambry Testing for your child:

 

How do I get my child’s test results and when?

  • Results are typically available approximately 48 hours from receipt of the sample at the lab. Samples collected on Thursday, December 3rd will arrive to the lab on Friday and results should be available by the end of the day on Sunday, December 6th.
  • Your child’s D39 school nurse will receive notification that the test results are posted in a secure portal.
    • If COVID-19 is detected, D39 school nurse will contact the family directly.
    • Negative test results will be emailed to families.
  • Please remember that a negative test result does NOT shorten the quarantine period due to travel or known exposure to a COVID-positive individual.
