Wilmette District 39’s “One Book, One District” library project has earned the prestigious 2021 Innovative School Library Program Award from the Association of Illinois School Library Educators (AISLE). This award is given annually to celebrate a school or district media center achievement in planning and implementing an innovative or creative event/service which has made a measurable, positive impact on its users.

The District 39 Board of Education unanimously approved a five-year strategic plan for the district during Monday evening’s Board meeting that will provide a roadmap for education in Wilmette through the 2025-26 academic year.

District 39 has launched a new strategic planning process to help us envision and plan for the future aspirations of our school community. The insights provided by stakeholders throughout D39 community will help to create our aspirational future and identify areas of focus over the next five years. With survey data that can be found the D39 Strategic Planning webpage, D39’s Strategic Planning Team has created a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). We are now ready for additional community input as we move to the next step in the process. District 39 Strategic Planning Team is requesting input from all community members: parents, students, staff, residents, and businesses.

Board of Education elections took place in April. At the April 27th meeting, two new members were sworn in, Bonnie Kim and Anne Hart, along with returning Board members Jon Cesaretti and Lisa Schneider-Fabes.
