On February 25, 2022, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) adopted new metrics to monitor COVID-19 community levels. Based on the metrics tracked by the CDC, which measure the impact of COVID-19 illness on health and healthcare systems within a community, Cook County was recently elevated to the "HIGH" level for COVID-19. Learn how the CDC measures and monitors COVID-19 community levels.

NOTE: As of April 22, 2022, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) stopped updating test and hospitalization numbers. As a result, we are unable to continue to report the test positivity rate component of our metrics page. We will update it with new data if/when the state makes it available.

COVID-19 Communications

District 39 is committed to thorough, accurate, and transparent communication with all our stakeholders regarding COVID-19 positive cases in the District.
The District sends direct communication to homeroom/classroom families of identified cases. With the implementation of D39's Reduced Mitigations Plan, parents will continue to be notified of potential exposure to a positive case within their child's homeroom/classroom. School-wide notices are not sent. However, positive cases are still reported by school and by date on this metrics page.
Cases that were not on campus during their infectious period (48 hours prior to symptom onset or specimen collection) are reported to CCDPH but will not be included within our communicated cases within our schools.
Previous communications that D39 has released related to positive cases of a student or staff can be accessed here.
